Kate passed away at 3:30 this afternoon. I was holding her hand, Sue was on the other side, and my father was with us as well as our friend Teresa E. Her passing was as peaceful as it could be. Thank you all for your thoughts and kind words.

Oh, David. I’m so sorry. I have been where you are and I know the world is pretty much chaos right now, and pain. Your friends and family will see you through. I wish I could be there to hug you when you need it, but I know your loved ones will be there for you. Kate was a beautiful person and the love and joy she brought and shared with you will shine through your life. Peace.
I am so sorry. I think that I only met Kate once or twice, but she shines through everything you have ever written about her. My thoughts are with you.

David, I’m so, so sorry to hear it.
My thoughts are with you. I’ll miss her.
Thinking of you both. May she rest in peace.
I’m so sorry, David.
David, I’m so very sorry. I only met Kate the once, but she was a lovely person and a gracious hostess – and terribly funny. I’m so sorry.
So sorry to hear about this. You told me about Kate when we spoke at Worldcon, and I’ve thought of you both several times since then. My family will be thinking of yours.
Oh, David, I am so, so very sorry. I wish comfort to you and all of Kate’s family and friends.
David, I am so sorry. I didn’t know Kate, but I have some idea (through BVC) of how hard it was for you. My deepest sympathies.
